Lindsay Lohan has always been that girl when it comes to icon on-screen style — and her return in Freakier Friday (yes, the mother-daughter chaos lives on!) is everything we didn’t know we needed. Seeing her step back into the role of Anna feels like pure nostalgia, and honestly? My teenage self is screaming right now. 🫶
Her makeup in the film is equal parts fresh, fun, and flawlessly cinematic — and lucky for us, her makeup artist Linda Dowds spilled the beauty tea in an exclusive interview with me.
Here’s the scoop on how Lindsay’s look came together:
Skin Goals = Achieved 🌸
First rule of Lindsay’s glow: keep it light. “I don’t like a lot of powder ever,” Linda confessed — and it shows. Instead of layering on heavy coverage, she reached for Armani Fluid Sheer, airbrushed to perfection, for that lit-from-within vibe. It also helps that Lindsay has amazing skin and takes great care of it. Linda shared that Lindsay often comes to set with her skin already prepped and ready.

Foundation: Armani Fluid Sheer (airbrushed) was her top choice for Anna, creating a radiant, youthful base. She also loves Clé de Peau Radiant Cream Foundation, but felt the Armani formula fit the character best as it still allowed for Lindsay's gorgeous freckles to peak through. As far as skin prep and hero products for glow, Linda shared that La Roche Poshay Anthelios Melt-In-Suncreen was used daily to protect and add glow to the skin.
Powders: When needed, she kept it subtle with Westman Atelier White and Butter Pressed Powders and Jouer Translucent Powder for a soft-focus finish.

Blush Crush 💕
Anna (Lindsay’s character) is all about looking alive, happy, and a little mischievous — so blush was key. Cream formulas from Westman Atelier and Patrick Ta brought the juice, while MCO beauty's Blush Drops made a cameo whenever a powder pop was needed. Think flushed cheeks that look like you’ve just run out of class to swap lives with your mom.

Linda's Makeup Philosophy
What's most iconic about Linda's work isn't the products—her vision is. She crafts makeup to enhance the story, never overwhelm it. For Freakier Friday, that equated to finding a balance between glamour and accessibility. Lindsay's looks were aspirational yet still realistic—just like the people she played.

Eyes That Tell a Story 👀
One of the dreamiest moments? The wedding luncheon scene where Lindsay rocks a mermaid-inspired dress. Linda played with eye colors that balanced soft romance and bold detail, giving Anna a look that said “yes, I’m still a teenager, but I clean up very well and have fun with color.” ✨ For an everyday look, Linda used Dior Backstage eyeshadow palettes in shades Nude essentials and Warm essentials to flawlessly accentuate and define Lindsay's eyes.

Lip Service 💋
This is where things got fun. Lindsay’s lips got the full wardrobe treatment:
Glosses: Victoria Beckham Beauty, Dior, and Charlotte Tilbury for high-shine magic.
Lipsticks: Pops of red with YSL, Dior, and Gucci for a little drama. Linda shared during the iconic photohsoot scene, Danessa Myricks Colorfix was used for the gold lips!
Lip Balms: Kosasport Lip Balms — or as Linda puts it, “lovely.” (Translation: the kind of balm you’ll apply 500 times a day because it feels that good.)

Nails & Prep = Details That Slay 💅
Even Anna’s nails got their moment. Think sweet little decals on a chic, sheer gel polish similar to Essie’s Mademoiselle. It’s giving Y2K vibes with a polished twist.

The reason Lindsay’s Freakier Friday makeup works so well is simple: it feels real. It’s fresh, playful, and perfect for a character who’s part teenage chaos, part heartfelt heroine. It’s not just makeup — it’s storytelling, one gloss and blush at a time.
